At the age of 18 I said my name for the first time without stuttering. Through suffering with a stutter since childhood, I felt like I didn't have a voice for 18 years of my life. My mental health deteriorated and my social life was non-existent. I didn't have the voice or social skills my friends had, so I always felt left behind, held myself back, and didn't live my life how I wanted. Aged 18, I was working a full time job I hated, enough was enough. My true self was in there I just had to be brave enough to take that leap of faith. I attended a speech course, committed part of my life to personal development and working on my speech, and now, the boy who couldn't say his own name is a Podcast Host, Stuttering Activist, Mental Health Advocate, and aspiring Comedian. This is my story of becoming the person I've always wanted to be. There have been many occasionally where I nearly let doubt win, and just because you think you're finished with mental health that doesn't mean mental health is finished with you. Like everyone, I still face demons and hard days. But I now have the tools to pick myself back up and move forward as oppose to holding back. Alongside hosting a podcast where I have interviewed the likes of Mark Ormrod MBE, comedian Dane Baptiste, and Colin Jackson CBE, I've began planning out my life long dream of being a comedian, a new challenge and something I thought I'd never be able to do. I hope to share my story and encourage everyone no matter who you are you can achieve your dreams, never let anyone or anything hold you back, be proud of who you are and where you've come from, and most importantly, be happy...
